Introduction

Context

This vocabulary is supporting STAT DCAT-AP, a specialisation of the DCAT application profile for European data portals [[DCAT-AP]] for statistical data. The terms defined in this namespace are defined as broad as possible for wider reuse but are scoped to the needs of STAT DCAT-AP. All terms in this vocabulary have therefore a strong connection with STAT DCAT-AP.

Revision history

Issue https://github.com/SEMICeu/StatDCAT-AP/issues/3 has to addressed!
In STAT DCAT-AP document the namespace mentioned in the pdf document is a temporary one http://data.europa.eu/(xyz)/statdcat-ap/. But in the ttl the Core Vocabularies namespace is used. See https://github.com/SEMICeu/StatDCAT-AP/blob/master/Release%201.0.1/StatDCAT-AP_1.0.1.ttl#L293.
Proposal is to move it to this namespace as it was the intention and mentioned in the issue #3.

The domain is set to rdfs:Resource while these properties are only meaningful with DCAT ecosystem. Suggestion to change the domain to dcat:Resource. The problem is that dcat:Distribution not a subclass is from dcat:Resource. That would possibly limit the reuse.

Abstract

The STAT DCAT-AP vocabulary supports the STAT DCAT-AP profile. The namespace for this vocabulary is http://data.europa.eu/s1n/ . It is under maintenance by the SEMIC action, Interoperable Europe.

Status

This vocabulary has the status Working Draft published at 2023-09-01.

Information about the process and the decisions involved in the creation of this specification are consultable at the Changelog.

Conformance Statement

In order to conform to this vocabulary the usage of the terms MUST: When reusing the terms, the reuse principles of the SEMIC styleguide SHOULD be followed.

To make the properties widely reuseable the domain and ranges are usually very open. For any kind of entity, the class rdfs:Resource is used. For any kind of value, rdfs:Literal is used. In the RDF ecosystem these are the universal denominators.

Terminology

The namespace for this vocabulary is http://data.europa.eu/s1n/ .

This section lists the properties matching the base namespace of this vocabulary.

attribute

(create issue) Property attribute
URI http://data.europa.eu/s1n/attribute
label attribute
definition a component used to qualify and interpret observed values, e.g. units of measure, any scaling factors and metadata such as the status of the observation (e.g. estimated, provisional). Attribute is a ‘conceptual’ entity that applies to all distribution formats, e.g. in case a dataset is provided both in SDMX and in DataCube.

dimension

(create issue) Property dimension
URI http://data.europa.eu/s1n/dimension
label dimension
definition a component that identifies observations, e.g. the time to which the observation applies , or a geographic region which the observation covers. Dimension is a ‘conceptual’ entity that applies to all distribution formats, e.g. in case a dataset is provided both in SDMX and in DataCube.

definition a unit of measurement of the observations in the dataset, for example Euro, square kilometre, purchasing power standard (PPS), full-time equivalent, percentage. Unit of measurement is a ‘conceptual’ entity that applies to all distribution formats, e.g. in the case when a dataset is provided both in SDMX and in Data Cube.
